Use your cursor to keep the squirrel dry!

April 2023 my friend mentioned on his Twitch stream that he would be partaking in a 'Game Jam'.

After a quick Google search, I discovered The Pizza Jam was a contest to see who could make the 'Best' game in 10 days. The winner of the contest would receive a pizza, and I'm almost always down for a free pizza, so entering was a no brainer. The given prompts were 30 old timey Japanese cartoon titles. I picked a number at random and went with the prompt ""Rain, Fall! The Bizarre Umbrella Man!"

It had been nearly 10 year since I last programmed a game from scratch, and at least 8 since I'd done any serious programming. I had no delusions of winning, but I've always enjoyed writing code. The last time I made a game I found the problems and decision making process fun and rewarding to work on. This time I relied heavily on internet forums for assistance, and the P5.JS framework. I did make every asset in the game (except yarn texture), utilizing Blender, P5 web editor, my family piano, Photoshop, and a few other odds and ends. Currently no audio is used for the game. I couldn't make it not annoying in time.

Please note, this game does have an ending and a story. To get to the ending it takes about 20 minutes of continual gameplay.

I have never beaten the full game, if you do let me know!

I like the aesthetic you went for a lot! It might be more interesting if the squirrel was less erratic from a frame-to-frame basis though :>

100% agreed. In the most recent version it moves much better!
